London, 1985, She/Her) has developed an approach to painting that involves making decisions from the neurons in the heart and a bodily spiritual connection as opposed to the brain. Inspired by Eastern philosophies, meditation, ceremonial plant medicine, as well as her work with reiki and integrative psychotherapy, Gemma creates art as she would hold a person-centred therapy session, keeping Carl Rogers’ core conditions for therapy in awareness: empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard. Gemma is mostly self-taught, has taken art courses in London and studied in Florence. She has lived and worked in New York, Doha, Geneva, Berlin and is now based in South London.
